Our content is community driven, so please feel free to support our project and write some reviews or help us to fill in the missing devices out there! Our goal is to create the most comprehesive non-commercial catalog for electric self-balancing wheels for everyone!
There was a small article in the swiss newspaper “Blick am Abend” regarding the requirements to become street legal with an electric unicycle. It was written in a sarcastic style, but shows how strange regulations could be. The german car association “ADAC” had an article in their member magazine regarding e-powered vehicles as well, eWheels are on focus for 2015 and are featured in newspapers and television.
Ninebot managed to get the Ninebot One on sale at Mediamarkt in Spain. After Harrots in London, it’s another popular store which start selling eWheels directly. Finally, the transition from online stores has began and it’s only a matter of time till other stores follow this trend.
Rouven found some new tracks and fun places where he played with his Ninebot, as always with photos and videos. We are organizing an event at the 23. May, where everybody can attend and learn how to ride offroad and master the forrest challenge! The tracks require different skill levels, we categorized them into green (beginner), blue (advanced), red (intermediate) and black (expert). We offer at least two guided tours, feel free to join us close to Berlin in Germany!
We went on finishing the test concept to get answers to open discussion points.
Based on the test concept we hope to get the answers to go ahead on this issue.
It’s currently on freeze regarding our request for information on the test concept, which will be send to ASTRA.
Last week me made a teardown of a Firewheel. We’re looking forward to get access to a Firewheel F779 which will become our rolling lab/ test system.
The balance controller board comes form a company which sells also to other vendors, also with smaller diameter. So it can be customized to fit different conditions. The PCB comes with enough things to play with (full speed USB, CAN Bus, I2C Bus). So we can enhance the control board with additional features - in theory.
After sending a request for information we got a reply from the manufacturer of the balancing board inside the Firewheel. Let’s see what we can do further on.
Needs at least more time to tap in and modify the test system.
Currently there’s a lack of how to test the eWheels. The accredited laboratories have also to sync with ASTRA on the test scope. We try to get this answers that all manufacturers / importers can start with homologation of their types. There’re two chapters we focus on:
We see three parts to cope with this law:
We started with this chapter today.
We conduct to the parade of e-powered vehicle at the old Berlin Tempelhof airfield. This old airfield is not in use for airplanes anymore. Today it’s used to let fly drones, drive eWheels on the area, walk around or whatsoever- it’s free to use for everybody.
In front of the Formula e race the target is to get a new record (Guiness world records) of the most e-powered vehicles.
According to the rules of GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS all electric vehicles are permitted which:
As we’re not vehicles with licence plates we can conduct but our eWheels are not counted. But we show presence and gain attention of all people who are interested in personal electric mobility. Everyone is welcome to meet up and show his eWheel or have a test ride if he doesn’t own one yet. Give us a kick at Tempelhof airfield and join the movement.
